The 2018 Elddis Stowford 860 is a seriously spacious touring caravan, combining an 8ft-wide body, twin-axle chassis and a luxurious transverse island bed layout with the additional specification of the Stowford dealer-special range.
Based on the Elddis Avanté 860, this is a caravan designed primarily with couples in mind, providing a huge amount of living space while retaining the flexibility to accommodate up to four people.
At the front is a large parallel lounge which really benefits from the extra width of the caravan. There’s plenty of room to stretch out and relax during the day, while at night the lounge converts into an additional double bed. The panoramic Sky-Scape sunroof and large windows give the living area a bright, open feel.
The centrally positioned kitchen is well equipped with a dual-fuel hob, separate oven and grill, microwave and a large 155-litre fridge/freezer, along with plenty of useful storage and preparation space.
One of the cleverest parts of the 860 layout is the central washroom. The separate shower and toilet facilities sit on either side of the caravan and can be closed off to create a private washing and dressing area between the lounge and rear bedroom. This also allows the bedroom to be separated from the main living area when required.
At the rear is the main attraction – a transverse island double bed with access from both sides. The bed retracts during the day to provide additional floor space around it, before extending to its full length when you’re ready for bed. With wardrobes and plenty of surrounding storage, it feels much more like a proper bedroom than simply a sleeping area.
